I first saw Richard Armitage in BBC America's TV series Robin Hood as Sir Guy of Gisborne. He seemed very well suited for the role; he was dark and moody and was very convincing as one of the bad guys (but he does have a conscience.).
(He does seem to prefer black leather as his costume of choice, doesn't he?)
*SPOILER: I went back and forth between feeling sorry for Guy and hating him for being so mean and insistent on Marian becoming his wife. But, when he finally switched sides, I was Quite happy. END OF SPOILER*
And then I saw Richard as John Thornton in BBC's North and South mini-series.

Once again, I thought he was perfect for the hero. I later looked at the year this was produced and discovered that it was made before Robin Hood. I wonder if this helped them decide to cast Richard as Sir Guy....?
Once again, he plays the rejected suitor...
And then he was in Captain America as the guy who sabotaged the lab.
I didn't even realize that Richard Armitage was in this movie until the credits started playing! Then I was going "What, Richard Armitage was in this and I didn't know it!! Who was he?" I couldn't even remember seeing his character in the whole film; I still haven't rewatched the film so I could look for him...
And he is also playing Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit! I was so excited when they released the cast list for this series. He just seems really good at roles calling for a little moodiness.
I can't wait to see the other two parts when they come out!
And there you have it-my very first Spotlight post. What do you think?
