Thoughts of the Season

Merry Christmas!! We've entered into my favorite time of the year - celebrating my Savior's birth. Growing up, we lived really close to both grandparents. We always got together with my Dad's family on Christmas Eve, our own family celebration on Christmas Morning, and then celebrated with my Mom's family later in the day. However, when we moved an hour and a half away to be closer to church, things had to change. Now we get together with one side the weekend before, and the other side the Sunday after Christmas. I prefer this way honestly. It doesn't feel so rushed, and we can enjoy time with those we don't see very often now.

Ever since I've had a job, I've enjoyed going shopping for my family; first with my Mom, then alone when I got my driver's licence. I think I enjoy the shopping and giving more than receiving gifts. (But that's fun too!) Hint: I start shopping in the spring, so I don't have to spend lots of time in the crowded stores. It's also a time to slow life down, and enjoy the beautiful lights Downtown and around the neighborhood, and spend time with family and friends.

What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions? Any particularly favorite ornaments or decorations? My favorite ornament is a glass Sugar Plum fairy my aunt bought for me at my first Nutcracker ballet.

Isn't she pretty?
