Thoughts:
This final installment of The Orphan Train Trilogy was a wonderful example of trusting God in adversity. The story-line mainly focuses on orphans Dane Weston and his new-found friend, Thrayne. Dane is orphaned right before his 15th birthday when a street gang murders his parents and 2 younger siblings, forcing Dane to temporarily give up his dreams of becoming a doctor as he finds a new life on the streets of New York. One day, Dane meets Thrayne and her mother, who are clients at the pharmacy he works at. While on his way to deliver a package later that day, Dane saves Thrayne's life when a runaway team kills her parents and aunt. With nowhere to go, Thrayne joins Dane on the streets. However, one day, Dane is accused of killing another street orphan - a crime Dane denies doing! What is the truth? Is Dane guilt, or is he really the one 3 other people saw running away from the scene? What about Thrayne and the other orphans Dane was helping survive? Who will care for them?
Recommendation:
If you've read my other reviews on this series, you'll know just how much I've enjoyed discovering this Husband/Wife team and reading their wonderful books. If you get the chance to read this series, be sure to check out the spin-off series from this last book: The Frontier Doctor. I've read the second book and am currently trying to track down the first and third. More reviews headed your way!
