My Summer

Hey everyone!!

Once again, I have fallen behind on my posts. Let's just say I had a very busy summer. We listed our house at the beginning of August, so we spent the end of May, and all of June and July getting things ready (painted all but one room in the whole house, new shed put up, weeding and other yard work. etc.). All this while my dad and we 3 older ones also worked full time jobs. It was an exhausting 2 1/2 months, let me tell ya.

We did take the first weekend of July off for my Dad's 50th birthday. We surprised him with a family trip to Fort McAlister State Park in the suburbs of Savannah.

It was wonderful spending time together goofing
 around and relaxing.

We played many rounds of Dutch Blitz.

And I got to practice my nature photography some more.

We spent Labor Day Weekend camping at Fort Mountain State Park with our friends, the Hunekes. We saw a hawk (it flew right over Mrs. Huneke's head!), 7 raccoons whose nest was in a tree next to the Hunekes' campsite, and I saw 2 black bear cubs Sunday morning! Nature was out in full force that weekend! We did a lot of:

Talking and catching up

Hiking. This includes hiking my most primitive
trail to date. Some parts were barely wide enough
for one person.

Rock skipping

Posing on various rock outcroppings

(some intentional, some not)

And I got in lots more photography practice.

This one spot on The Most Primitive Trail Ever
looks exactly like the forest scene in the newest
Prince Caspian movie where Caspian meets Reep.

SO MANY FERNS!!!!!!

So, that was my summer! We're hoping to get at least one more camping trip in before the weather turns too cold. How was your summer?
